Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri kepada semua yg mengenali saya. Satu buku yg saya order sampai sehari sebelum raya: “The Belief of the People of Truth” by Ibn ‘Abd al-Salam.

Wootz!

More & More Books

15 Sep

I bought more books in preparation for my online course at SunniPath.com. 2 translated books by Hamza Yusof, 3 books by Gibril Fouad Haddad (collection of translated texts by scholars of classical Islam doctrines and beliefs) and 5 books written by Syaikh Hisham Kabbani which is actually a collection of 7 volumes Islamic Encyclopedia (can’t find the first and last volume).

Also bought one book for my sister from www.betterworldbooks.com. Tried to order at Kinokuniya but no luck… They said the book was out of print. Searched at www.bookdepository.com

New Books Arrived!

9 Sep

Yahoo! I received the books I ordered from Kinokuniya. 6 books total :P .

  1. The Message of The Qur’an (Muhammad Asad)
  2. Reliance of the Traveler (Tr by Nuh Ha Mim Keller)
  3. Islamic Doctrines & Beliefs Volume 1 (Al-Sayyid Muhammad Ibn ‘Alawi al-Maliki)
  4. The Book of Certainty (Abu Bakr Siraj ad-Din)
  5. Al-Maqasid (Tr by Nuh Ha Mim Keller)
  6. Muhammad his life based on the earliest sources (Martin Lings)

The Book of Certainty is tiny but costs RM84.90 but worth every penny! So much knowledge in such a little book. Most of this book is for me to study since I’m currently taking an online course at SunniPath.com (Miftah Diploma).

I’m awaiting another 5 books which will arrive in about 3-4 weeks time. I’m also going to order another 2 books for my sister for her PhD thesis next semester.

New Family Member!

4 Sep

Adik ipar telah melahirkan seorang anak lelaki di Hospital Serdang malam Khamis lepas. Adik lelaki saya baru je fly to Sabah hari tu so saya telah menjadi ‘bilal’ terjun untuk meng’azan’kan baby baru tu.

Citer lain pulak, saya telah order 4 buku di Kinokuniya Malaysia, they have problem finding the books so its been delayed for a few days now. The four books are:

  1. Al-Maqasid: Nawawi’s Manual of Islam
  2. Reliance of the Traveler
  3. The Message of the Qur’an
  4. Al-Ghazali Deliverance From Error & The Beginning

Lama dah teringin nak beli The Message of the Qur’an. First Kinokuniya called cakap buku ni dah takde tapi ada published baru punya and harga tambah kurang RM10 so kira OK la. At last, dapat gak buat collection hahaha.

Oh ya korang mungkin tertanya kenapa Kinokuniya dan bukan MPH? Well, I prefer Kinokuniya coz service dia lagi best. So derang call bagitau still nak buku tu ke pasal tinggal satu jek. Saya kata OK and bile dapat buku tu, tak nampak sangat pun stain tuh.

Second experience is masa beli buku lain several years ago, cover buku yg nak beli tu agak terkoyak sikit and that was the last stock yg derang ada. So derang offer untuk balut ngan plastic cover for free,  and saya accept. Bila dapat, tak nampak pon tempat yg koyak tu. Oleh sebab tu, pada saya service Kinokuniya memang superior dari MPH. To be fair, experience beli kat MPH tu dah lama dah jadi tak tau sekarang service dia camne…

Khwaja Mere Khwaja…

30 Aug

When I visit Medan last April, I watched a Hindi movie ‘Jodhaa Akbar’. I was impressed and fell in love with one of the songs in the movie titled ‘Khwaja Mere Khwaja”. A song written by the famous A.R. Rahman. The translation (ie subtitle) of the song in the movie was pretty bad.

I recently found a very nice translation of the song thanks to kaissiom. Below is the translation:

Khwaja ji.. Khwaja
-[Khwaja, O Khwaja]
Khwaja ji.. Khwajaji
-[Khwaja, O Khwaja]

Ya Ghareeb-un-Nawaaz
-[O supporter of the poor]
Ya Ghareeb-un-Nawaaz
-[O supporter of the poor]

-[O supporter of the poor]

Ya Moin-ud-deen
-[O helper/assistant of the Faith]

Drive Free, Retire Rich!

25 Aug

Check out this interesting post by Dave Ramsey. Shows how you can buy a car without having to apply for a loan from bank and still retire rich!

Though I finished my car payments early this year, it is a very interesting concept which can be implemented in a lot of ways. Not only on cars.

Ramadhan Mubarak!

22 Aug

Welcome Ramadhan! Just finished sahur and am waiting for Subuh prayer. Peace and blessings to our beloved Prophet Muhammad (saw).

Minimalist Firefox

13 Aug

I stumble upon Google reader and starts to use it. I’ve managed to reduce my bookmarks and even remove Firefox’s bookmark toolbar to save Firefox’s real estate.

I find that Chromium Browser by Google for Linux saves a lot of real estate so I try to follow it in Firefox by installing dmlite to hide Firefox’s main menu. I also like to browse in full screen mode hehe. Why not use Chrome instead you might ask? Well, I hate ads and useless javascripts and Chrome does not have addons such as Adblock Plus and Noscript to block them :( .

Below is screenshot of my Firefox:

Anyways, I will be going to Jakarta tomorrow after Friday prayer. I’ll be back on Sunday. Till then… Peace.
